a Himalayan Trek to Har ki dun, Sankri,
nr Deharadoon from 26th Oct ’14 to 5th Nov ’14. (Starting
on 25th Night)

Ascending gentle trails through luxuriant oak and conifer
forests and past traditional Hindu mountain villages to the alpine meadows
where mountain peaks soar above Hari-ki-dun
(the Valley of Gods).
Har - Ki - Dun nestles in the NW corner of Garhwal
near the Satluj - Yamuna watershed and remote western hills of Uttarkashi
district. The valley is dominated by Swargarohini (6252 mtrs).
Though less known than the famed Valley of Flowers in the
Indian Himalaya, the Valley of Gods boasts richness in the variety of flora.
Situated in the upper catchment basin of the Tons River, Hari-ki-dun is one of
the most fascinating and least visited areas of the Garhwal Himalaya. This area
harbours almost all the major groups of the high altitude flowers, birds and
animals in the Himalayan zone.
The itinerary
for the event will be as follows:
Day 00: 25th
October
Meeting Point: Mumbai Central at 9.00 pm
Start from Mumbai by Golden Temple Express by 9.30 pm
Day 01: 26th
October:
Reach Nizzamuddin by 6.35 pm
Travel till New Delhi Railway stn.. Dinner Enroute
Board Delhi Dehradun Express from Delhi at 23.55
Day 02: 27th
October: Dehradun– Sankri (via Mussoorie) (166 kms/ 5-6 hrs)
Reach Dehradun by 05.40 and drive to Sankri via
Mussoorie, Kempty falls.
Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
Day 03: 28th
October: Sankri – Taluka (1900 m/6232 ft) 14 kms/4-5 hrs
From Sankri the road is well made and passes through
dense forest with
gorgeous views down the valley, of local settlements and
river Rupin. Taluka, a
small hamlet nestled in the laps of nature is located at
the 1900 Mts. Taluka has
guest houses and a few shack shops providing daily
provisions to the local
inhabitants. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
Day 04: 29th
October: Taluka – Osla (2560 m / 8400 ft) (13 kms/6-7 hrs)
The trail from Taluka village initially descends and then
continues gradually on
the true left of the valley adjoining the river Rupin.
Later the trail winds up the
beautiful forest of Chestnut, Walnut and Willows and
continues to the village of
Gangar. Here cross the side stream and continue to climb
to see settlement of
picturesque Osla village at a distant on the true right
of the valley. Continue to
trek to Seema the campsite just opposite to the village
of Osla separated by the
swift river. Seema is a small tourist hub with shops of
limited supplies, a forest
rest house and tourist Bunglow. Overnight in tourist rest
house/tent.
Day 05: 30th
October: Osla – Har – Ki Dun (3566 m / 11700 ft) (12 kms/6-7 hrs)
The trail from Seema initially continues on the true left
of the valley, goes past
fields followed by crossing a hanging bridge over river
Rupin, to the true right of the valley. The trail now ascends, go past through
fields and pastures with huts. The
coniferous flora on the opposite side of the valley is awesome and much
adorable. The trail climbs to the ridge
locally named as Kalkatti Dhar, from where the trail traverses to give you
awesome view of Har Ki Dun. From here initially
the trail climbs gradually and later gets steep in times
go past through beautiful meadows to the campsite at Har KI Dun. The campsite
is by the small stream,
with peaks of Har Ki Dun and Swargarohini towering above.
Overnight in the
tents.
Day 06: 31th
October: Har Ki Dun – Osla
The reverse trek to the village of Osla is an easy walk
which gives a lot of
opportunity to admire the beauty of the valley. The trek
to Osla will take around
3-4 hrs. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
Day 07: 1st
November: Osla – Taluka (13 kms/3-4 hrs)
The walk towards Taluka village is equally easy as the
previous day. The beauty down the valley is really immaculate and worth it.
Overnight in rest house/ hotel.
Day 08: 2nd
November: Taluka (13 kms/3-4 hrs) – Sankri
The trek for the day is relaxing and fun walk through the
forest and on well made road.
Day 09: 3rd
November: Sankri - Dehradun (215 Kms, 7-8 hrs)
Travel by road from Sankri to Rishikesh.
Stay in Rishikesh
Day 10: 4th
November:
Enjoy Rafting in River Ganga
Post Lunch Travel till Haridwar stn.
Board LTT Express from Haridwar by 6.50 pm
Day 11: 5th
November
Reach Back to Mumbai by 11.50 pm.
The cost for
the tour will be INR 13500/- per head,
