Velas is one of the popular breeding sites of Olive Ridley, which is an endangered species of turtle. The hatchlings are heading towards the sea from the shore now-a-days. And we have at least 80% chances to see the emergence of these little new born turtles.
We will also be visiting the Mandangad and Bankot (Himmatgad) forts in the same tour. Also we will try to visit the Marine Turtle Knowledge Information Centre as well as Marine Turtle Research and Conservation Centre.
The itinerary for the tour will be as follows:
Friday, 12th March:
Start from Swami Narayan Temple, Dadar, on Friday night by 11 pm.
Saturday, 13th March:
Reach Mandangad fort early morning.
Visit the fort, start for Velas, Lunch on the way.
Visit velas beach in the evening,
Go for turtle watching.
Check in at some villagers home in Velas, have dinner, and sleep over there.
Sunday, 14th March:
Visit Velas Beach for Turtle watching.
Have breakfast and start for Bankot fort.
Visit Bankot fort, and start our back journey. Lunch on the way.
Reach Mumbai by 9 pm.
The cost for the tour will be Rs1300/- per head,
