We at Trek Mates India have arranged a one day trek to Fort Tikona in Lonavala region on Saturday 18th June’2011.
Little about the fort :
Type: Hill Fort
Height: 3500 ft Feet above MSL (Approx)
Grade: Easy trek
District: Lonavala.
Base Village: Tikona peth
Tikona Fort, also renowned as Vitandgad fort, is a major hill fort in Maval region near the Lonavala. Tikona fort, literally means triangle fort, had witnessed many dynasties ruled in the Maratha region. This was the nerve centre of the many activities of entire Malwan Pawna regions. The small hamlet close to the fort is Tikona peth. The fort’s mammoth entrance is a special attraction.
The Tikona fort is a great trekking destination for the adventurous tourists.
One can get the eye catching views of the Pawna Dam and the forts at Visaput, Tung and Lohagarh. The fort encloses a lake, Satvahan caves and the temple of 'Trimbakeshwar Mahadev'.
The fort was built during the Silhara dynasty. There is a temple on top of the peak. The view of the Pawna dam, Kathingad and valleys from the top is breathtaking.

The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
Meeting Point :
Mumbai People : Thane Station Platform Number 5 Below Indicator sharp at 6 am (With ticket till Kamshet)
Board Indrayani Express From Thane on Saturday Morning at 6.14am and alight at Lonavla by 8am.
People may board same train from their respective stations of convenience and meet us directly at Lonavla. {Train timetable is provided at the end}
Preferably try to get into second last general compartment as we will be boarding the same from Thane.
Move forward to Kamshet by local train (8 :15am at Lonavala station platform no 3).
Pune people : Kamshet Station at 8.35 am on Saturday (18th June).
Breakfast Break.
From there we will reach Tikona Peth, the base village in next 2 hrs.
Trek the fort, exploration, lunch ect. (2 hrs approx)
Start descending by 1.30pm and reach the base village by 2.30pm
Reach Lonavla by pm. 4pm
Take train to Mumbai.
We would be returning to Mumbai by 9 in the night.
If Time permits we may even visit Bhaje caves.
The cost for the trek will be Rs 200/- per head which includes
• Travelling from Lonavala and back.
• Refreshments.
Things To Be carried:
Identity proof (must)
Lunch For Sunday,
Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
A bottle of water (atleast 2 Ltrs),
2-3 bunch of papers
Torch
Camera(Optional)
Cap, etc.
Medicine those if u require usually (Optional)
A good trekking shoes, extra pair of socks
A haversack to put in all the things to be carried....so that one has ones hands free while trekking.
Windcheaters,
Rains are expected, so pack yr bags accordingly to save them from getting wet.
Pleases do not carry sling bags or Jholas.
Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.

Few rules we would like our participants to follow
We follow a strict policy of "no trace" trekking,
"Take nothing but memories and photographs, leave nothing but footprints".
Rules & Regulations:
Do Not Litter: Participants are requested to carry the waste back to the city and dispose it off in dustbins.
No Smoking and alcohol: Smoking cigarette, chewing tobacco or related products and consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on the trek. Anyone found in possession of the same or consuming it will be expelled from the trek. NO REFUND will be provided.
(Smoking will only be permitted before the trek starts and after the trek is over with prior consultation of the Leader and the person will have to move away from the group to smoke.)
Respect the Heritage: Participants should not deface or damage any monument by writing or scribbling on them. Please help us to conserve and preserve our heritage along with our trek mates.
Be a group: It is of utmost importance that all participants stick together in the group, in the event of any ‘deviation’ by the participant without the consent of the ‘Trek Leader’, he/she/they will be considered as ‘Independent/s’ and will no longer be considered as a part of the group.
Pay attention: Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.
In case of any injury, sickness, accident, death or any other casualty or loss or damage of valuables or luggage or any equipment; Trek Mates India, it’s instructors, organizers, volunteers or any other person involved wholly or partially, either individually or jointly, shall not be responsible in any manner for the same and no claims of the participants, parents, guardians, relatives or friends of participants will be entertained.
Any violation of the above rules will be dealt with seriously, and may involve expulsion from the trek or event, and no refund is admissible in such cases.
Adventure activity is arranged considering normal weather. In case of occurrence of any natural calamities, if event is cancelled, in such circumstances NO REFUND will be provided.
The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.
Trek mates India reserves all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without prior notice. No arguments or refunds will be entertained.
