Promises are meant to be kept, after Feb months cycling trip to Korlai, keeping our promise, we at Trek Mates India invite you to March month Cycling trip from Mumbai to Velas, specially  for Turtle Festival on 9th and 10th March '13.


Details:
Velas is the birth place of Nana Phadnis, one of the great prominent personalities in Maratha history. Due to the sea-shore Velas is an existing place and it is situated nearBankot Bay. There is an old temple of Shri Bhairi- Rameshwar and in this temple all twelve months water is made available taking the benefit of favorable geographical conditions. A statue of Nana Phadnis is present outside his house. In Velas Mahalakshmi temple and Nana Phadnis house are the places to visit. Gokulashtami Festival is one of the important festival in Velas.Velas is also one of the popular breeding sites of Olive Ridley, which is an endangered species of turtle

Turtle Festival at Velas : The Turtle Festival at Velas is annually organized by Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra (SNM) and the Kasav Mitra Mandal (KMM), during the period of February to March. This festival is attended by nature lovers, marine turtle enthusiasts, volunteers, known personalities in the field of conservation, tourists and people who just want to witness this moment, at least once in a lifetime!

Day 1, 9th March:
Assemble at Gateway of India                                    05:45 am

Mandva to Murud - 72 km approx  - 4 hrs                  12:00 pm
Murud - Lunch at Patil Khanaval - 1 hr                        01:00 pm
Murud to Dighi - By jetty  -           30 mins                   02:00 pm
Dighi to Hariheshwar - 49 km   - 3 hrs -                     06:30 pm
Harihareshwar to  Bankot - By Jetty 15 mins            07:00 pm                             
Bankot to Velas – 6 km                                               07:30 pm
Explore beach, Lunch & Stay at Velas at villager’s place

Day 2, 10th March:
Explore beach for turtle hatching
Breakfast & leave                                                           08:00 am
Reach Bankot                                                                 08:30 am
Reach Dighi                                                                    12:00 noon
Reach Mandva                                                                06:00 pm
Catch Last 06:45 pm Jetty to gateway

Cost – The cost of whole trip is on Actual. Which means the expense will be shared equally among the members as well as the leaders and coordinators.
Trek Mates India will be charging Rs.100 per head as expertise charges. The approximate cost of the trip is expected to be INR 800-900 which includes Ferry charges, Refreshments & Lunch (veg).

Tail Lamp, Helmet (Must)
Water Bottle (at least 2 Ltrs) (must). 
Glucose / Tang or any ORS (Must)
TORCH with extra batteries (Must)
Safety Gears like Gloves or Guards, Cycle Saddle Bag, Tool Kit, Puncture Kit (optional)
Scarf, Buff, extra pair of T-shirt & Lower (prefer wearing padded shorts & cycling t-shirt), Camera (optional)
Personal care & medicine
You can carry a hydration bagpack which has a small compartment also, can be used to carry extra clothes & other stuff.

In case of any injury, sickness, accident, death or any other casualty or loss or damage of valuables or luggage or any equipment; Trek mates India,  it’s instructors, organizers, volunteers or any other person involved wholly or partially, either individually or jointly, shall not be responsible in any manner for the same and no claims of the participants, parents, guardians, relatives or friends of participants will be entertained.

Any violation of the above rules will be dealt with seriously, and may involve expulsion from the trek or event, and no refund is admissible in such cases.
Adventure activity is arranged considering normal weather. In case of occurrence of any natural calamities, if event is cancelled, in such circumstances NO REFUND will be provided.

The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.

Trek mates India reserves all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without prior notice. No arguments will be entertained.
