Prabalgad is
situated on northeast side of Panvel, on Mumbai-Pune road. One can see
it from express highway a V-Shaped one. The Left one is Kalwantin Durg
& right side is Prabalgad. It is located on a plateau very close to Matheran. It was known as Muranjan until it was taken over and renamed by the Maratha forces under Shivaji's rule.
There is a dense forest on the way till the top of fort Prabal
The fort top commands an excellent view of the surroundings with Kalavantin in the front. Matheran, Chanderi, Shrimallang, Irshal Karnala, Manikgad, etc can be easily identified.
The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
Meeting Point for Mumbai and Pune People:
21st December Saturday Night at Panvel ST Depot @ 11.00 pm (5 mins walking distance from Panvel Station)

From here we will move ahead to Thakurwadi by Public Transport.
Reach Base Village by 11.45 pm
Introduction Round and Start Our Trek at 12.30am
Reach Prabal Machi by 2.30am
Rest at Prabal Machi till 6.00am Morning
Post Breakfast Hike Till Prabalgad atop in the Morning.
Explore the fort, and start descend by 11am.
Back to the Prabal Machi by 12.00pm.
Back to the Prabal Machi by 12.00pm.
Lunch at Prabal Machi and Start our back journey by ST Bus/jeep.
Reach Panvel by 4.00 pm. (approximately)

Travelling from Panvel to Panvel by Public Transport,
Breakfast and Lunch.
