TMI Bike Ride cum Jeep Tour to Ladakh from 15th to 27th August '14.

India is an ancient mystical phenomenon in perpetuity. There are wonderful and breath taking landscapes, nowhere-to-be-found moonscapes and timeless spiritual wisdom. It can only be imbibed first hand by coming to India and traveling like a monk. There is nothing like Riding a motor bike Ladakh - and travel these ancient landscapes for an inward journey of a life.

Ladakh constitutes two-third of Jammu & Kashmir state - which has a unique moon-scape. It is largely an extension of Tibetan plateau and the seamless culture of monks. The brown mountains break into fantasy colours as you look closer, to the bright green oasis around villages in the river valleys. Centuries old monastries, perched over rock cliffs, cradle the ancient traditions of mystical Buddhism, exquisite frescoes and priceless thangkas. This highest cold desert in the world is a journey of self-discovery at altitudes exceeding 12000 ft above mean sea level. You pass the deep river gorges as you explore to the world's highest motorable passes. This route is surely one of the toughest motorcycle rides anywhere in the world. Only the fit and seasoned motor cyclists are advised to take on the rugged Himalayas.

A brief Explanation of the tour
The manali- Leh road is one of the most exciting and scenic biking trails anywhere across the country, crossing as it does four high passes over the great Himalayas and the parallel Pir Panjal and Zanskar range. The route which any biker would like to visit at least once in his life time. And the beauty which mesmerizes anyone in his first look.

The planning for the event will be as follows:
Day 1: 15th August:
Early morning start from Mumbai for Srinagar by Flight Pick up from Airport and transport to hotel Day at ease (Bike Maintenance)

Day 2: 16th August:
Srinagar Local Site seeing
 
Day 3: 17th August:
Srinagar to Kargil

Day 4: 18th August:
Kargil to Leh city  

Day 5: 19th August:
Leh to Pangong- 160 Kms Ride Enroute visit Thiksey Monastry and Shey Palace Stay at Pangong lake

Day 6: 20th August:
Pangong Lake to Leh - 160Kms Also visit Hall of fame army Museum in Leh City
 

Day 7: 21st August:
Drive to Nubra Stay in Nubra

Day 8: 22nd August:
Drive from Nubra to leh Stay in Leh

Day 9: 23rd August:
Leh Local and Shopping

Day 10: 24th August:
Leh to Kargil

Day 11: 25th August:
Kargil to srinagar

Day 12: 26th August:
Bike Transfers

Day 13: 27th August:
Drop to Airport. 

Total Bike ride: 1800 kms Approx.


The Expenses
The whole tour is on Actual. Which means the expense will be shared equally among the members as well as the leaders and coordinators.
Trek Mates India will be charging INR 4000 per head as expertise charges.
The approximate expense for the event will be INR 35000/- for bike riders, or 40000/- for 4 wheel tourists.

Inclusions:
1.      Accommodation on Triple sharing basis in Hotels and sharing basis in tents
2.      Meals (Breakfast and Dinner)
3.      Permissions wherever necessary
4.      Utility vehicle (For broken down Bikes and accessories)
5.      Transportation by Jeeps (for 4 wheel tourists)
6.      Bike Transportation charges (Mumbai – Chandigarh & Srinagar – Mumbai by Cargo)

It is very important that you line the inside of your bags with a big polythene sheet. Doing so will ensure, that in the event of rain, even though your bag may get wet, your clothes will still remain dry!
