Lohagad is very wide spread fort. There are 4 doors to Lohagad from the nearby village -Lohgadwadi. i.e. 'Ganesh Darwaja' , 'Narayan Darwaja' , 'Hanuman Darwaja' and 'Maha Darwaja'.

Some sculptures can also be seen on Maha Darwaja. The famous spot on Lohagad is 'Vinchu Kata' - the scorpion tail. Amazing view of Pawana Dam is also visible from the back side of Lohagad.
The wealth from Surat was brought here under the leadership of Netaji Palkar and kept here for some period.
One can see Purandar on south-east. Sinhagad as well as Tung and Tikona can also be clearly seen. This fort is of Satwahan Era and of great importance in Shivaji's period as to keep watch on Konkan and Bor Ghat. This fort is historically very crucial and must be visited by trek lovers and history lovers.The tentative itinerary for the Trek is as given below:

Bhaje Caves : The ancient Viharas and Stupas of Buddhists indicate that they were Heenyana Buddhists, who do not believe in idol worship. Here we can find 8 more Stupas. There is a temple, which is Surya-Mandir or Temple of Sun. the chariot of Sun God is carved here. The constructions here are highly astonishing, and remained intact even after more than 2000 years. The wooden planks used here have not degraded yet. The place is now under the care of ASI.
Meeting Point For Mumbai People : Thane stn at 6.00 am at platform no 5, below the indicator.
We will be Starting for lonavla, by indrayani express at 6.10 am. from Thane
Reach lonavla at 8.05 am. change the local and reach Malavali stn by 8.20.
Meeting Point For Pune People : malavali Stn at 8.20 am
Tea, breakfast at lonavla stn and Start our trek by 9.00 am.
Reach the top in 3 hrs.
Explore the surroundings and start descending by 12 noon.
Reach the base till 1.oo pm.
Lunch
Visit to Bhaje Caves.
Spend some time at waterfall.
Start our return journey after evening refreshments.
We will be reaching Mumbai tentatively by 9.30-10.30 pm on Sunday, 13th.
The cost for the trek is Rs 150/- per head which includes
Breakfast, lunch (Zunka Bhakar) and evening refreshments.
Things To Be carried:
Identity proof (must)
A bottle of water (atleast 2 Ltrs),
Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
Towel, a napkin, Extra Pair of clothes
Camera(Optional)
Cap, etc.
Medicine those if u require usually (Optional)
A good trekking shoes, extra pair of socks
A haversack to put in all the things to be carried....so that one has ones hands free while trekking.
Pleases do not carry sling bags or Jholas.
Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.
